A country is either sovereign or it is a vassal state.
There is no such thing as "a backward idea of sovereignty" you either have it or you don't and Ireland doesn't have it.
Ireland is a vassal state of the US and the destructive policies it is pushing at the end of empire as is every country in Western Europe, end of story.
Well the UK is outside the EU but still had immigration levels of 606,000 last year.
The whole system is rigged against the indigenous peoples of Europe on multiple levels but I have an increasing feeling that the solution to this will come in a flash of light and Europeans will get their whole continent back.
i've listened to several commentators this week warning people to get out of ireland, including mike yeadon...it seems they have put this country top of the list for unfolding their plans...using it as a test case to see how far and quickly they can push through their agenda...maybe they're using ireland as an example because of our widely recognised independent and fighting spirit and if they can show that they can push all their ideologies and totalitarianism through here, then they can easily do it for the rest of the western countries. i lived abroad in several countries years ago but was so happy to be able to come back home and build my life up here and bring all the expertise gained abroad with me. The thought of leaving again is unthinkable but i guess that depends on how bad things are going to get here...at the moment i'm not very optimistic
Brilliant article, Aisling, just like journalism used to be. One little error you might want to fix before Justin Barrett starts seeing monsters where there are none and Hermann Kelly develops a second personality: that should be ‘Hermann Kelly, leader of the Irish Freedom Party’, not the ‘National Party’
I'm a publish first, edit later kinda girl. Thank you RVJ. Will correct. Should know too, since I interviewed Hermann Kelly. In too much of a rush. Merci.
Straight to the point M’lady. Smelling salts throughout for hopeful sensible heads to prevail. The onslaught of normalizing open borders nonsense is making me choke. “Stay sober”. Ty so much. There flooding into America too as never before. It’s not funny anymore. My relations were forced out of Ireland before the triumph of the Rising. My great grandmother never had the chance to return. Neither her daughter not her granddaughter, my mother, got to walk the blessed land. A true tragedy 🎭 of epic proportion.
Please stop.
Leave our culture and language, and borders as is.
This is not fear mongering. This is sensible checks and balances. There’s more to this than meets the eye 👁️. Ty for not drinking the koolaid.
Our pathetic so called leaders in government and equally spineless opposition for want of a better word are pushing this agenda and sinn fein a so called republican party are anything but and are just as bad
Superb Aisling. I wish we had the level of awareness we had now back in 2005 when the DCU President made those remarks and you were still with TV3 and would have hopefully gone to town on him. We were too seduced by our delusions of grandeur and false prosperity at the time!

Think we need to look back on our backward idea of sovereignty and fast. Exiting the EU is looking like our best option.

It is out of our hands now.
